A City on the rise
It’s hard to miss the flurry of construction works taking shape throughout Frankston city centre. The first sod has been well and truly turned on a number of big housing developments along the Nepean Highway, Playne Street and Davey Street. We’re a city on the rise, figuratively and literally, as these new apartment complexes will home hundreds of new residents right in the heart of our city centre - something our local businesses are eagerly anticipating!
We’re a good sport
Frankston City boasts some wonderful sporting clubs and sporting communities throughout our suburbs, which in truth essentially serve as almost extended families to our residents. They are welcoming hubs for friendships, fun and social gatherings, as much as the healthy active lifestyles they encourage and offer. Our city is alive with soccer and footy fever right now. It’s hard to miss the crowds of families and friends out supporting their local teams on any given weekend or training night. Basketball, netball, gymnastics, hockey, rugby, BMX you name it. There’s something for everyone! It’s great to see, and even greater to participate!
Investors have the taste of success
What a year 2026 has been already in terms of welcoming new hospitality operators throughout the City! The hugely popular Pan-Asian restaurant and bar Bang Bang, two new Rizin’s Smash Burger outlets, Cajun-style seafood restaurant Kickin’ Inn, two new Zambrero, two new Guzman Y Gomez, all filling vacancies and empty stomachs throughout Frankston city centre and our suburbs.
All eyes are now on Frankston’s waterfront as we await the opening of premium Southern Italian restaurant Rochella Lido to its newly renovated Yacht Club location.
Let’s also not forget the myriad of smaller hospitality operators (do not miss out on Foglie in Seaford’s hand-crafted pizzas and pastas!) that are enjoying the boom in Frankston City’s appetite for new cuisines and venues.
It’s been an entertaining few months!
In a world that’s been dominated by AI and addictive social media for so long, it’s encouraging to see a reverse trend for memorable social experiences and pure unadulterated family fun IRL / “in real life” (as the cool kids say!)
The addition of a second General Public, brand new iPlay Australia and massive new Bounce Inc have all take our local family entertainment to the next level. Even the local cafes and restaurants are offering pop-up activations and events, to maximise ways for us to unwind, de-stress and let loose.
You don’t need an Event to make life eventful
Hot off the heels of the incredible South Side Festival, Frankston hosted its inaugural Fire Festival at the foreshore this winter, and despite the damp weather (understatement of the year!) thousands of locals turned up to enjoy the food, drinks, music and fiery entertainment!
With another couple of months to go until the Festival and Events season launches Spring and Summer with a bang, life in Frankston City can still be pleasantly eventful in the hiatus of a hosted event! If the shopping, dining, live music venues, bike tracks, street art, Frankston Art Centre shows and exhibitions, skate parks, indoor aquatic centre PARC, 100+ play spaces aren’t enough to keep you entertained, then don’t forget that we are one of Australia’s very few genuinely blended Bush-Bay-Cities with thousands of hectares of stunning natural open space.
Add the jaw-dropping Seaford Wetlands, Langwarrin Flora & Fauna Reserve, George Pentland Botanic Gardens, Pines Flora & Fauna Reserve to your list of must-do’s this winter. Even better, visit Cruden Farm, McClelland Gallery, Ballam Park Homestead, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Arboretum, Mulberry Hill. We’re never short on things to do, whatever the weather.
