Push Pull - Damien Arena

Arts and Culture

Description

Description

Artist Bio:

Damien Arena is a Melbourne-based multi-faceted artist who works across a wide range of mediums and environments. With over 10 years of experience creating large-scale public artworks using specialized painting techniques, Damien's primary goal as an artist is to forge connections with others through their creations. They employ a variety of spray-painting techniques to craft cohesive and expressive visuals that resonate effectively within the public art sphere.

Damien's artistic style is adaptive, always taking into consideration the purpose, environment, and viewership of each project. This flexibility allows Damien to explore new approaches and techniques while maintaining the core principles of their style, fueling the creative process and refining their skills. Often incorporating photo-realistic subjects against hyper-colorful abstract backgrounds, Damien playfully explores the contrast between reality and imagination.

Artist Description of Artwork:

PUSHPULL explores the notion of finding balance through grit and determination. It uses typography, semi-realism and graphic abstraction to communicate to the viewer on multiple levels. The artwork is designed to be visually expansive across the large surface whilst also holding deeper meaning through its narrative.
