Winter School Holidays in Frankston City

WINTERkids Winte school holidays in Frankston

Ah the winter school holidays. What a magical time of year. The mornings are cold, it rains often, and the snack draw never seems to be full enough.

Don’t get us wrong. We love that packed lunches aren’t a daily occurrence, that the days can start a little slower with no alarms and more PJ time, and when the winter sun shines through the clouds, we forget about the chill and know that we must make the most of it.

The pressure to find 14 daily activities (or 21 for those lucky enough to get a three-week mid-year break!) can be a bit overwhelming. ‘Just watch a movie’ works once or twice, but we all know they’ll be climbing the walls by Day 3.

So, let us help. We’ve scoured the city to bring you the ultimate list of activities, from all-day paid experiences to afternoon experiences and free local gems, to help you survive (and maybe even enjoy) the winter break.

Hopefully there are a few ideas listed that will help fill at least some of the gaps in your school holiday plan. As always, make sure you follow us at Imagine Frankston Facebook and Imagine Frankston Instagram to get more ideas daily!

All weather indoor activities

Bless our indoor venues that can entertain no matter the weather. In Frankston City we are spoilt for choice.

Gravity Zone Seafordthumb 376 276 4
Gravity Zone is one of the destinations that has something for all ages. Yes, they have trampolines, and a playground specifically for under 2’s, and if you have a kid that loves to jump and flip, just that would be all you need. But did you know they also have a multi-level laser tag arena and virtual reality zone for older kids too?

For the families than span pre-school to high school, Gravity Zone may possibly be the answer to all your needs.

Bayside Indoor Rock Climbingthumb 392 252 climb time thumb
Bayside Rock has developed a great area so anyone and everyone can give climbing a go, from the first-time climber to the climbing pro.

Casual Climb Time sessions in the Kids Climbing area (for kids under 13 years) are set-up so no one is required to do the rope work and parents can either relax as the kids climb or join in the fun. In this area, Climb Time sessions run hourly and also include the caving challenge and ‘Spider Mountain’ so there’s heaps to keep everyone busy. For those over 13 years, the Top Rope Climbing section has over 100 different climbs ranging from easy to extremely hard (to challenge the world’s best).

EXCAPE FrankstonDSC0018 small400
For the teens 14 years and over, maybe an escape room is the holiday activity they’ve been looking for. Excape Frankston has five different escape experiences (one is recommended for those aged 16 and over) to choose from. The idea is, you enter the room with a scenario, you must find the clues, solve the puzzles and work out how to escape before your 60-minute time limit runs out. This is a great activity for a group of friends (from 2 to 6 people).

And we're sure there are many that we have missed!

Don't forget for those sunny days, Frankston City is home to a huge number of parks and playgrounds (and fenced ones at that!), as well as cafes and restaurants, walking trails, and over 90 murals throughout the city centre that you can wander and discover.

Not every day of the holidays must be filled with an activity, but hopefully we have given you some inspiration to keep boredom at bay and make the whole thing just a little less overwhelming.

Disclaimer: make sure you reach out to the businesses listed to make sure nothing has changed since we put this list together and grab your tickets (paid or free) before you arrive. Things can change and these activities do book out.

If we've missed any activity, please let us know in the comments or shoot us a DM at Imagine Frankston Facebook or Imagine Frankston Instagram

And if you don't follow us on socials already, today is a good day to change that.
