Kananook Creek Association

Nature and Wildlife Frankston

Description

Volunteer community group dedicated to the restoration of Kananook Creek.

Description

Kananook Creek is located some 35 kms south of Melbourne, just a short walk from Port Phillip Bay, Seaford Foreshore Reserve and the internationally protected Seaford Wetlands.

Commencing at Carrum, the creek winds gently for some 7.5 km along the secondary dune system parallel to the Port Phillip coastline before merging with the bay at Frankston.

For the most part, the creek is fringed by a fragile ribbon of remnant native bushland predominantly on the eastern side with residential properties to the west. In 1996, the adjoining bushland reserves were accorded Land for Wildlife status.

The Kananook Creek Association is a voluntary organisation. Our activities include:
-Restoration and preservation of the reserves
-Lobbying for a cleaner creek
-Clean up days
-Promotion of the creek and relevant issues.

New members and volunteers are very welcome.
