Artist Bio
Born in 1996 in Bathurst, I moved to Sydney as a semi-professional cricketer, before art became my true calling.
My art career grew in one of the oldest and most organic art forms by way of stone carving. My style became unique through my ability to replicate old stone patterns by recovering them through rare rendering techniques. I also had the ability to recreate patterns in columns that were created in the late 1800’s.
Artist's Description of the artwork
In this mural, Calum has used his brother-in-law, the model, being a character playing as a self-portrait. He’s at the airport, about to fly from Sydney to Melbourne - representing Calum always going away for work. His wife and son are always wanting to come with him when he works away, so they are characterised as the rats trying to go with Calum as a part of his luggage.
Calum’s son is the small rat getting into the bag because he is always getting into mischief. And his wife is peeking out of the bag because she’s a sticky beak.
