McClelland Sculpture Park+Gallery is Australia’s first family founded, public gallery dedicated to art and sculpture. Located in Langwarrin, in a coastal bushland setting of 16 hectares, McClelland has a significant art collection of 2,700 works, including more than 100 sculptures in the park. The modernist gallery building designed by Colin Munro and Philip Sargeant opened in 1971. This unique place celebrates the McClelland family’s initial gift to the local community and today McClelland contributes significantly to Australian art and culture.

Description

It is the encounter of art in the natural environment at McClelland that makes it the only place of its kind in Australia. A changing exhibition program focuses on modernist Australian art and contemporary spatial practice. McClelland is also known for its successful commissioning of the Peninsula Link sculptures, which are relocated to McClelland following their installation on the freeway. McClelland receives over 150,000 visitors every year, and provides education programs for a large number of students from kindergartens to senior schools across Victoria. The experience of McClelland is one that enriches lives. It offers a place for your mind to breathe and be inspired, while taking a walk at your own pace.

Harry's Café overlooks lawns, lake and the native bush land setting, and is surrounded by remarkable modern Australian sculptures. The Café complements the experience of the outstanding exhibitions and Sculpture Park. Open Wednesday to Sunday 10am – 4pm.
