Emergence - Matt Hill

Frankston City Public Art Karingal

Description

Description

In this installation, three elliptical metal sculptures rise from the earth, symbolizing the birth and growth of new life. Each ellipse, composed of seven blades, reflects different stages of emergence, much like the natural progression of life—from nascent potential to full realization.

The seven blades forming each ellipse are not just structural elements; they represent the multifaceted nature of life itself. Just as life is made up of various experiences, influences, and stages, each blade contributes to the whole, creating a unified form. The blades converge at a central point, suggesting the interconnectedness of these experiences in shaping our journey.

As the sculptures emerge from the ground, they connect deeply to the earth, drawing from it the strength and nourishment needed for growth. The seven blades fan out gracefully, embodying the idea of expansion and evolution. This installation is a celebration of renewal, a reminder that life is in a constant state of becoming, with each new beginning holding the promise of growth and transformation.
