Sam Absurd - Portals

Arts and Culture Frankston

Description

Description

Mural Name: Portals

Artist: Sam Absurd (Samuel Kim)

Artist Bio:

Sam, a Korean-Australian artist, born and raised in the vibrant western suburbs of Sydney, has spent the last two decades perfecting his craft. Collaborating with graffiti and street artists as well as multidisciplinary artists, he has cultivated a distinct and original style.

His extensive portfolio spans festivals, corporate offices, government councils, and universities. Drawing from his mathematical background and passion for nature and philosophy, Sam creates mesmerising works that explore the themes of logical paradoxes, the Absurd, and the nature of reality through primarily illustrative compositions.

With background experience as a youth worker, Sam also dedicates his time to passing on his expertise to the next generation. Sam's unwavering commitment to both his art and his community makes him an authentic advocate for the arts in Western Sydney and beyond.

Description of Artwork:

The mural depicts portals in outer space with astronomical elements intertwined in a chaotic yet balanced composition to highlight the absurdity of our reality using sci-fi themes of space and time. Along with the use of impactful colours, this mural also represents the many elements that make up a community, with the many individual parts making up the whole.
