Description

Description

Ballam Park Homestead is situated just 5 kilometres from the heart of Frankston. The Homestead is an oasis of tranquillity, where the visitor is able to step back in time, back to the days of rustling silk crinolines and the aroma of leather harness and horses. This feeling of “Old World” charm is apparent from the moment you turn into the leafy drive.

Built in 1855 and classified by The National Trust (Vic), on the National Heritage Register, it was the home of “Liardet”, pioneers of Melbourne and Port Melbourne. The home is decorated in “Victorian” style, with a Museum, Buggy shed/Machinery shed, and Tea-rooms.

The Homestead is the home of the Frankston Historical Society. Members of the Society, dressed in costume, give guided tours of the property and tell the varied and interesting history of Frankston. Come visit “The Jewel in Frankston’s Crown”.

Turning from Cranbourne Road into a long leafy driveway takes you on a walk back in time to an age of rustling silk gowns and creaking farm machinery. The house, which is full of old world charm, is set in a beautiful cottage garden surrounded by heritage-listed trees. A blacksmith shop, a museum and an extensive collection of farming implements are also on display. The Old Oak Rooms serve delicious Devonshire teas and local produce.
